International Singer-Songwriter Teddy Swims Rocks Pacific Clothing Label FUGAWI
Kuki Airani designer Morghan Ariki Bradshaw, the brains behind clothing label FUGAWI, celebrated a milestone in her brand's journey earlier this week when international singer-songwriter Teddy Swims took to the stage wearing her design.
This is not the first time Bradshaw’s work has adorned a popular musician. Aotearoa musical sensation Stan Walker wore a blazer of her design in his Māori Ki Te Ao music video.
Bradshaw took to the FUGAWI Instagram page to express her elation at Teddy Swims wearing her work, describing the event as ‘such a cool win for ‘US’.’
In her designs, Bradshaw aims to ‘give the garment some sort of its own entity or soul.’ Achieving this vision by ‘channel[ing] the wearer as much as possible to create something that actually connects to them as a person.’
Swims responded to the Instagram post thanking FUGAWI for his custom coat.
Bradshaw acknowledged the supportive network of organisations, family, and friends that surround her stating, “I love my community, I love my culture, I love feeling deep and creating artistic narrative through words, fashion and art and I can’t wait to have my website up and running so you can see into the life and the lives of FUGAWI.”
