Rarotonga 96% vaccinated against Covid 19 as the country maintains its Covid free status this week.

Almost all of the eligible population of the Cook Islands group has now had both Pfizer Covid 19 jabs including the outer islands enua. The Islands are currently in Alert Level 2 after the announcement of NZ's Covid 19 positive cases.

A rapid roll out of Covid testing on Rarotonga saw a fast and effective testing process of the 3000 plus tourists that came into the island via the NZ travel bubble in the Covid positive period.

Close to 2000 tests for Covid-19 have been conducted and all have returned negative results. The thorough testing process in Rarotonga has put the countries Covid 19 training into rigorous practise, as the health sector kicked into gear at the first news of Covid in NZ. 

The travel bubble with New Zealand has been suspended since New Zealand went into a nationwide lockdown almost a week ago, putting hundreds of kiwis holiday plans on hold. 

Outbound travel for New Zealanders wishing to return home is ongoing and the hope is that a Covid free and vaccinated Cook Islands will remain the beacon of holiday dreams for the many New Zealanders in lockdown to look forward to in the future.
