SURPRISE WEDDING - FEAGAIGAFOU & REBECCA

Yesterday afternoon Feagaigafou aka Nainz (one half of popular singing duo Adeaze) and his partner of 19 years Rebecca aka Becks pulled off the surprise of the year, inviting close family and friends to what they thought was going to be a Tone6 showcase.

Guests were told that a 60th diamond birthday was taking place at the front of the venue and to make their way through to the back garden area where Tone6 greeted them and then performed a couple of songs, before the couples youngest son Josiah came through to announce they'd all actually been invited to the wedding of his parents.  Cheers, laughter and even tears erupted as family and friends got over the initial shock of the announcement.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes Becks, Nainz & their immediate family were getting ready for the big reveal.

Nainz & Becks first met at the Excel School of Performing Arts - Becks and Nainz younger brother Logovi'i aka Viiz were both majoring in vocals and as Becks says, he met her, chased her and the rest is history.

The couple have been together for nearly 20 years and have 4 children together and had been planning to get married for a while but had kept pushing it back but  3 weeks ago Nainz said to Becks lets just do this, lets get married!  "The man came up with all these ideas and left it to me" laughs Becks 

"The main thing today was we wanted to honour first and foremost God and the blessings & journey he has been with us as well as for our family and our children."

The couple tried as hard as they could to keep it a surprise from as many people as possible including their parents and siblings.  Becks only told her parents the night before after worrying about their reaction to their surprise.  

"We decided to do it this way because we didn't want our family or friends spending any money on us, coming here with gifts or as is the Pacific Island way our families would have wanted to put in to help support" said Nainz "This is our way of saying thank you to all our dearest family and friends that have helped mould him and I as a couple over the past 19 years"

"Every single person who is coming today is like an ingredient in our lives and we're the product of that and this is our way of saying thank you to them and honouring them for what they've done for us personally" added Becks.

The couple made sure their children were involved in the planning process as much as possible as they felt that the wedding was as much for the kids as it was for them and they were getting to see their parents finally get married after 19 years together.

They were also tasked with keeping the big secret for 3 weeks! 

Nainz and Becks children and nieces made up their wedding party as well.  Their eldest son Viliami was Best Man, their eldest daughter Praise was Maid of Honour.  Younger children Josiah and Sina took on groomsman and flower girl duties while their nieces Faith and Moanekah lined up as bridesmaids.

Once the surprise was revealed, family and friends were ushered to the front of the venue which they had previously thought was for a 60th birthday where the wedding got underway with Nainz, Tone6, his brother Viiz and a live band singing the bride down the aisle.

When asked what the secret was to staying together for 19 years Becks said that it was simply being able to work through the hard times when you hit rock bottom and not looking to quit.  Being able to forgive, work through it and move on to the good times.

"When I think about marriage, I think of my parents ... and that is Love" said Becks
