JEN SHAH - THE FIRST POLYNESIAN HOUSEWIFE IN "THE REAL HOUSEWIVES" FRANCHISE
The Real Housewives franchise has expanded to Salt Lake City with a brand new cast of women including the first Polynesian 'housewife' to be part of the series.
Her Bravo bio reads:
"As a Tongan and Hawaiian growing up in Salt Lake City, Jen Shah felt like she often stuck out in her traditionally white, Mormon world. When she learned about the historical mistreatment of black people in the Mormon religion, she converted from Mormonism to Islam. A mom of two with her husband, Sharrieff, Jen is the queen of her house and her businesses as the CEO of three marketing companies. Always decked out in designer brands, Jen loves to host parties and spares no expense — it’s important to her that everyone knows she is the best host in Utah. With an extravagant personality and sharp tongue, she can go from 0 to 100 very quickly but usually comes back with apologies and love. But it’s not always fun and games for Jen with this group of women when she quickly finds herself at the center of the drama."
Jennifer (nee Lui) is married to Sharrieff Shah who grew up in Los Angeles and moved to Utah to play football. He suffered a career ending neck injury in his senior year however, and went on to become a lawyer and practised law for a decade. He also spent 12 years as the sideline reporter for Utah football radio broadcasts. He is currently a football coach at the University of Utah and a number of his players have gone to to get NFL positions.
The couple have two boys, Omar and Sharrief Jr. Omar looks to be in his teens whereas Sharrief Jr is a college grad who played for the program where his father coaches. He started on the team a year after his father took the coaching job. He graduated with a degree in Exercise Science.
She says she grew up raised in the Mormon faith but when she learned about the attitude of the church towards people of colour she made the choice to convert to Islam, the religion her husband follows.
