Vince Harder dominates at Vodafone Pacific Music Awards
Vince Harder has dominated at the 2016 Vodafone Pacific Music awards, taking out the honours for best male artist, urban artist and best producer, for his album Rare Vision.
Music and dance group Te Vaka nabbed the awards for best album - Amataga - and best song, Papua I Sisifo, which was written by band member Opetaia Foa'I, who is currently writing the soundtrack for the upcoming Disney film Moana.
Kiwi-Samoan singer Annie Grace won best female artist for her album The Journey, while Sol3 Mio took out the title of best group.

Hip hop heavyweight Savage took home the radio airplay award for his hit Freaks, as well as nabbing a special recognition award for outstanding achievement, alongside Tongan sisters Vika and Linda Bull.

The Bulls weren't the only international artists to get recognition, as Californian group Common Kings picked up the award for best international Pacific artist - with its members having ties to Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, and Tonga.…more

Pacific Underground to receive 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award
The Pacific Music Awards is only two weeks away, and today the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award is announced: Christchurch based performing arts collective, Pacific Underground.

They formed in 1993, and since then have shared stories of Pasifika communities living in Aotearoa through plays, music concerts, events, CDs, tours and collaborations with artists all over the Pacific.
Pacific Music Awards Trust spokesperson Rev Mua Strickson-Pua notes that the award recognises artists who have significantly contributed to Pacific music over an extended period of time.

Dwayne Johnson on the new Jumanji movie and Robin Williams
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has made a promise the new film of the 1995 fantasy classic would "forever immortalise" Robin Williams' character from the first film in "an earnest and cool way."

The Rock took to Instagram to reveal more details about the film he will star in as well as produce:
"An important thing I want to be honest and bring up is Robin Williams. The love and respect I have for this man is boundless. You have my word we will honour his name and the character of "Alan Parrish" will stand alone and be forever immortalised in the world of Jumanji in an earnest and cool way. I have an idea of what to do and I think his family will be proud. I also think Robin is somewhere lookin’ down and laughing, remembering the first time we met backstage and I (for the first time ever) was a star struck bumbling idiot that couldn’t even get my words out. He goes to the same high school, Saint Louis, that produced 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, who is now the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans.
