New Zealand’s Onehunga has been nurturing some of the best Hip Hop for decades, and the arrival of newly formed crew SWIDT is no consolation.
SWIDT, which stands for ‘See What I Did There?’, is a creative collective on the verge of cementing their name in the game. Comprised of six members: SmokeyGotBeatz, SPYCC & INF, JAMAL, Boomer and AZA – the collective features names who have had their own wins in the last 12 months, alongside new names to the canvas. Supporting 30k spins on Soundcloud and YouTube, and before their first full-length “SmokeyGotBeatz Presents – SWIDT vs EVERYBODY” release in May – SWIDT delivers the visual drop for ‘No More Parties in Stoneyhunga.’ With the crew at heart, the clip opens with a mob of locals dressed in Hawaiian shirts and lids repping their postcodes, whilst a drone rises over Mangere Bridge showcasing, their backyard.
“NMPIS was the first official song we recorded as SWIDT. We just casually threw it up on Soundcloud and the response we got was crazy. We just wanted to give it an Onehunga spin from the production to the raps.”
