Dancing Against San Francisco Bullets

Pelenise Faataui is the daughter of one of the first Samoans to settle in Bayview Hunters Point during the migration of Samoans through the Navy. Kirisimasi Faataui was a known Samoan community member who raised "Nise" with cultural values even as they grew up in on of America's most violent neighborhood. She teaches Polynesian dances passed down generation after generation in front of her home to youth in the neighborhood putting them at risk of the on-going violence.
