Hawaiian Dance - Ke Kai o Kahiki, Merrie Monarch Festival 2009
Dancers from Ke Kai o Kahiki perform the Tū Oe - a traditional style of hula, or helo; winners of the Kāne Kahiko section in 2009.
The Merrie Monarch Festival honors the legacy left by King David Kalākaua, who inspired the perpetuation of their traditions, native language and the arts. The week-long festival features an internationally acclaimed hula competition, a crafts fair, an art show, hula shows, and a grand parade through Hilo town.
