How to Kiu Sa with the Sabeto Meke Group

Learn the ins and outs of performing “The Kiu Sa”( Fijian spear dance) with the Sabeto Meke Group.

Meke is the term used for Fijian traditional style of dance. There are various styles of meke, such as the war dance, men’s spear dance, women’s fan dance and the sitting dance.

Mekes are performed at special events and cultural nights. The dancing and chanting are accompanied by rhythmic clapping and beating of the lali, a traditional Fijian drum.
