LA'U LUMANA'I (My Future) - Aue Dance Lab
Over the last two weekends Aue Dance Co, held 4 shows of LA'U LUMANA'I (My Future) at Te Oro in Glen Innes performed by the students in their Aue Dance Lab.
AUĒ Dance Lab was established this year to create energetic learning spaces for our Auckland community to learn various Pasifika dance styles. They teach Cook Islands Ura, Samoan Siva (Female & Male) and their authentic unique AUĒ style of Pacific Contemporary dance.
Through Pasifika dance, music, poetry and costuming the Dance Lab embraced traditional Pasifika arts from the past and explored what Pasifika arts will look and sound like in the future in their LA'U LUMANA'I showcase.
The show featured their AUĒ Dance Lab classes with a cast of up to 115 performers - URA TANE (Cook Islands Male Class), URA VAINE (Cook Islands Female Class), 'AKAMATA (Pacific Contemporary Dance Class), GALUSINA (Siva Samoan Mixed Class) and their Cook Islands Dance Collective, MANA.
Choreography was by Vivian Hosking-Aue, Kiana Maruaao, Peter Lagaaia, Numela Taavao, Jaroncye Lole and Robert Sanele.
