Sau e Siva presents Lalelei: Puleono i Salafai
Lalelei means beautiful in Samoan and is the title of the acclaimed show by Sau e Siva telling the story of the turtle and the shark, a Samoan legend from the village of Vaitogi in Tutuila, Samoa.
This show exploded on the stage and had an extended season at the Mangere Arts Centre, Ngā Tohu o Uenuku, bringing together 40 performers from a variety of backgrounds and was choreographed by the talented Sau e Siva Creatives: Leki Bourke, Italia Hunt, Epine Savea, Jill Karapani and Idalene Ati with Creative Director Troy Tu'ua.
In this scene the village maidens dance in courtship to the great chief Malietoa Faiga to the song Puleono i Salafai, Salafai being another name for Savai'i and Puleono referring to the six houses of power (orator power) on the island
