Tahiti Mu'umu'u Art
The Mu’umu’u is a must-have dress for any Pacific vahine to have in her wardrobe – you may see them all in white on a Sunday, or in every riotous colour combo under the rainbow on many other occasions.
Bought to cover our sinfully unclothed Polynesian bodies by the early missionaries – this was originally a big loose fitting dress that hung from the neck to the ankle. While we still adopt the comfortable loose fitting style – nowdays the mu’umu’u takes many forms and sizes and is the signature dress across the Pacific. While there are now many digital prints, check out these handprinted and painted mu’u,mu’u in Tahiti by Tahiti Art Maohi and think about the style you want to rock out this summer!
