Traditional Sports at 2016 Heiva I Tahiti

An annual festival that has become emblematic of Polynesian culture, "Heiva", comes from the Polynesian words meaning "to assemble" and "community places", and celebrates traditional Polynesian activities, including festivals, music, dancing, singing, and sporting events.  The sports competitions focus on the traditional activities of the Polynesians including stone lifting competitions, javelin throwing, and sail and outrigger canoe races.
