FOR TODAY - NETHERWORLD DANCING TOYS ft ANNIE CRUMMER
The 1985 hit 'For Today' is one of New Zealand's iconic anthems and featured a 17 year old unknown Cook Islands singer at the time - Ms Annie Crummer!
Lead singer of the Netherworld Dancing Toys, Malcolm Black told the story of when Annie came in to do vocals for them on Prime TVs 'Anthems NZ's iconic hits' here
"Annie was so shy and 17 or 18 or something and basically looking at her feet all the time ... I knew that she could sing but I didn't know how good she really was. She morphed from being this shy girl staring at her feet to doing this vocal improvisation. I'd never heard anything like it"
Annie says of the song 'Every day someone will still come up and assault me with "For Today" - they don't sing it to me or for me they sing it at me' (laughs)
