MOZIE - Not Done Loving
The now Wellington-based MOZIE (Moana Leota) is an incredible talent and has released her stunning debut single + video (above) for ’Not Done Loving’.
“It’s about meeting the right person at the wrong time, yet still holding onto that love and those feelings,” says the singer. “It’s for your summer roadie, singing with friends, or crying alone at 3am. I’ve always seen music as a friend to me and I hope that this song may be a friend to someone out there who needs one.”
Filmed at Waiorongomai, South Wairarapa, the self-directed music video for ‘Not Done Loving’ was made with a crew of family and friends - including her mum being her ‘stand-in’ for storyboarding, her dad being her assistant, her uncle’s Road Runner classic car, and two close friends for hairstyling and make-up.
Coming from a family of singers, MOZIE’s first professional work was at the age of 11 when she became the voice of the new Interislander commercial, followed by the Tip Top Real New Zealand Summer commercial.
Coming up - Moana Leota, and her live band celebrate the significance of poetry captured in some of the most highly acclaimed songs to date, including ‘Hallelujah’ by Leonard Cohen, ‘Redemption Song’ by Bob Marley, and ‘River’ by Joni Mitchell, as well as her own work.
Poets Before Me shows how these artists have used poetry to infuse their music, resulting in it being rich, raw, and relatable. Moana explores how selected artists and their poetry have influenced her life as well as her artistic practice as a singer and songwriter.
